With the C Restaurant’s upstairs bar newly renovated it was an opportune time for Puffs At Play to show Perth’s young socialites what this inner city venue was capable of. The Level 34 Launch Party was a culmination of sophistication, glamour and revelry. In the two week lead up to the big night, over 450 people had responded to the email invitation sent out by Puffs At Play and last minute changes were made to accommodate the influx of extra attendees.

Sveltely dressed guests were greeted by red carpet and seductive door staff at the bottom of the elevator who ferried people up directly to the intimate atmosphere of Level 34. With evocative artwork covering the walls by Perth artist Ben Riding (The Hot House) and elaborate strobe and mood lighting, the bar was a welcome hideaway unlike any seen before.

Sexy, upbeat house tunes bellowed from the decks thanks to DJs Jonno Choy, Gavin Carey and Stafford Beamish. Alongside them, Perth jazz singer Marnie Kent (winner of Best Jazz Song in the 2005 WAMI Awards) crooned her wanton melodies to the crowd surrounding her. As deluxe food platters were handed around it was only those lounging on the couches who stopped to eat, as everyone else was consumed by the will to dance.

As the clock struck 11.00pm it was time to extend the party by adding another playing field. With dinner guests from C Restaurant now safely out of the building, the cocktail lounge spanning across a third of the restaurant on level 33 was taken over by Puffs At Play. Here, against the stunning backdrop of Perth City lights, the decks were manned by DJ masters Sammy Jordan and Nicolas Vautier who proceeded to seduce the hungry crowd with the juiciest of house and breaks beats. At their side sang vocal vixen Rachel Claudio who continued her melodious love affair with the horde til the end of the night. After hours of rampant play that felt like minutes there was only one thing to change for the next Puffs At Play event… find a venue with a liquor license past 3am!
