Art, decadence and sumptuous melody are just some of the experiences tasted at Red Cherry, the first nightclub party to be put on by the Puffs At Play events group for 2006 that delighted and seduced all who set foot inside. Set in the moody wonderland that is Margeaux Nightclub and sponsored by Chambord and Frangelico, Red Cherry gave focus to an impressive repertoire of performers emerging from the Perth arts scene and celebrating a 1970’s disco theme reminiscent of the popular film Boogie Nights. 

Musical prodigy duo Rachel Claudio and Nicolas Vautier took to the stage followed by rising songstress Elle Young for a medley of aural pleasures. Meanwhile master of music DJ Miss T incited the dance-floor to a high along with fellow Western Australian house music connoisseurs DJ Mutchy and DJ Dan Oxenbury. A cataclysmic on-the-spot performance by unique drumming band Perth Escola De Samba saw a team of energetic show-people weave through the crowd in rhythmic splendour. Local dance artist Belinda Roberts captivated spectators with her mastery of movement, whilst quirky showman Pierre enchanted guests with his unpredictable neo-vaudevillian magic. Catering for all moods, party-goers who preferred to stand back from the furore were able to browse through the oil-on-canvas creations of Natalie Watkins. Also on show were the creative talents of exclusive hair stylist Bee Love and exotic makeup artists Carly Gilmour and Charlene Keilty.

Red Cherry gave anyone with an appetite for something unusual and charismatic, a chance to sample the wares of innovative Perth artists in a glamorous setting. Doors opened from 9pm until 3am the next day which as always seemed to finish way too early for a crowd that clearly wanted to party for days on end.
